Floyd and Molly Barela, both Colorado natives with mining roots, opened Golden Block Brewery in 2014. Prior to opening, Floyd was an active home-brewer for 20 years and part of many local home-brew clubs. He received his certificate from the Master Brewers Association program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. After Molly suggested opening a brewery in Silverton, Colorado, Golden Block Brewery was born and remains the local neighborhood hangout on the "block".
Floyd and Molly are both very active in the Silverton community. Molly's community involvement includes the Town of Silverton Board of Trustees, president of the Fourth of July Association, library board, Silverton Clinic member at large, and she has held numerous positions on the Chamber of Commerce board. Floyd is involved in the community by serving as a volunteer for the Silverton San Juan Fire Department, and has had numerous board positions in the Silverton snowmobile club.

We offer great tasting craft beer - brewed on premises - and homemade, wood-fired pizza, paninis, and more. The pairing opportunities are endless, plus there's something for the entire family to love!
